Warren County Community Health Coalition Warren County and Town of Front Royal Across Ages Intergenerational Mentoring Program is enhancing, strengthening, and expanding the program developed during the first two years. In addition to the centerpiece of older adults mentoring youth ages 11 to 17, the program implements Across Ages, a model prevention program for life skills instruction. $37,500.00
Brighton ’s Solid Rock of Portsmouth Portsmouth Brighton ’s Solid Rock, Inc. (BSR, Inc.), a faith-based community organization, implements school and community-based mentoring programs through the Protect and Respect Our Community Project. These intergenerational mentoring programs pair seniors over the age of 55 with youth in elementary and middle schools and are held in four community sites. $37,000.00
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Rappahannock City of Fredericksburg, Stafford and King George Counties The RBBBS Protect and Respect Intergenerational Project pairs and supports senior “Big's” with youth “Little's.” These pairs also may link with a homebound “Grand” to serve seniors who are especially vulnerable. $30,000.00
Prince William County Office on Youth Cities of Manassas and Manassas Park and Prince William County SEASONS is an intergenerational program that promotes positive youth development, crime prevention, and resiliency in teens by linking them to older adults. It uses the Teens, Crime and Communities curriculum to teach teens about crime prevention. $20,000.00
Appalachian Agency for Senior Citizens Tazewell County The Appalachian Agency for Senior Citizens implements a one-to-one mentoring program pairing students at Richlands High School with senior adults. $37,500.00
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County Harrisonburg and Rockingham Counties The Golden Opportunity Project, an intergenerational mentoring program for at-risk children, offers three program options:
  • community-based mentoring,
  • school-based mentoring, and
  • bi-monthly groups of one-to-one mentoring pairs at the Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Virginia Cities of Roanoke and Blacksburg, Counties of Roanoke, Salem, Montgomery, Radford and Pulaski The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Virginia Older Virginians Mentoring Project supports the active matches made during its first two years, while making additional matches. The project works in collaboration with the Pulaski Retired Seniors Volunteer Program (RSVP). $34,473.00
Grayson County Public Schools Grayson County The Protect and Respect - Alliances Inspiring Successful Education (PRAISE) program pairs mentors over the age of 55 with at-risk students in elementary and middle school settings. $37,000.00
Crime Prevention Activities Grants
Family Service of Roanoke Valley City of Roanoke and Roanoke County Roanoke 's Protect & Respect Intergenerational Crime Prevention Teen Outreach Program (TOP) implements the Youth as Resources model program to provide youth with on-going leadership and life skill development sessions. In addition, youth in these programs develop and implement crime prevention and safety projects for seniors in school-based, after-school and summer settings. $15,000.00
Alliance for Families and Children City of Lynchburg The first year of the Protecting & Respecting Our Neighborhoods project delivered the Teens, Crime and Community (TCC) curriculum to high school-aged youth; then involved them in the design and implementation of crime prevention projects with seniors in the College Hill neighborhood. The second year involved Dunbar Middle School students and Diamond Hill seniors. The third year is focusing on youth and seniors in the White Rock Hill community. $9,750.00
Boys and Girls Club of Emporia/ Greenville City of Emporia and Greensville County The Teens And Seniors Against Crime Project delivers the Teens, Crime and Community curriculum to youth at the Boys & Girls Club. Students in this after-school program design crime prevention activities with seniors involved with the local Seniors and Law Enforcement Together (SALT) council, and seniors at the Trinity Woods Retirement Center. $10,628.00
Virginia Beach City Public Schools City of Virginia Beach At Plaza Middle School, a collaboration of professionals from several community agencies leads youth through the Teens, Crime and Community curriculum as part of the after-school Plaza Community Leaders Project. The students then survey seniors in their community about their safety needs, and develop and implement community action activities based on the survey results. $14,250.00
